How Hire Purchase works.

You choose how much you'd like to put down as a deposit, whether you would like a balloon payment and how long you want your agreement to last. Your local Dealer will then work out your monthly payments. At the end of the agreement, providing you’ve made all the payments (including any balloon if necessary), you'll own the vehicle.

How Contract Hire works.

You choose your upfront rental, how many miles you expect to drive each year, and how long you want to keep the vehicle. Your local Dealer will then work out your monthly rentals.

With Mercedes-Benz Contract Hire, after setting your upfront rental, your monthly rental is based on the following:

1. How long you want the agreement to last.

2. Your expected annual mileage (please see our Comparison Table for maximum mileage).

3. The cost of your Vehicle Excise Duty (also known as Road Fund Licence).

When all monthly rentals have been made, at the end of your agreement you'll return the vehicle, subject to any end of contract charges that apply, such as damage outside fair wear and tear, extra days’ rental and excess mileage. There's no option to own the vehicle with this product. For more information on this product, please see the Contract Hire Finance Breakdown below.

Please be aware that, as a lease product, you don't have the same termination rights under Contract Hire as you would for a purchase product such as Hire Purchase or Agility (Personal Contract Plan).

For Business Customers only:
As a business customer, an element of VAT may be reclaimable depending on vehicle usage (proportionally) and your rentals may be allowable against taxable profits. Please speak to your usual tax or HMRC adviser for more information.

Once your agreement begins, you’ll make monthly rental installments for the duration of your agreement. At the end of your agreement, once you’ve made all rentals due, you’ll then return the vehicle.

Who is Contract Hire for?

Contract Hire could be the right choice for you if:

• You want the certainty of leasing your vehicle with fixed monthly rentals (subject to changes in VAT rates and VED), but without the option to own it at the end.

• You anticipate what your annual mileage will be and are aware if you exceed the permitted mileage, additional charges will apply as stated within your contract.

.• You'll need to pay the excess mileage charge detailed in your finance agreement for each mile you've exceeded the total permitted mileage by.

• You can commit to a specific term and accept there'll be early termination charges to come out of the agreement early.

• You’d like the simplicity of one monthly rental that covers your Vehicle Excise Duty. For this reason the V5 Registration Document will remain with Mercedes-Benz Finance throughout the term of the agreement.

Contract Hire isn't suitable for someone who wants the option to own their vehicle at the end of the agreement.

What happens at the end of your agreement?

As long as all your monthly rentals and any charges (such as parking or speeding fines) have been paid, you can return your vehicle to us.

Your vehicle will be assessed against our Vehicle Return Standards (VRS). After the vehicle's return, you’ll be invoiced for any applicable charges due under the agreement, including any extra days’ rental, excess mileage (the pence per mile charge for going over your agreed mileage can be found in your agreement), and damage charges outside fair wear and tear.

We recommend you review these guidelines now and throughout your agreement.

When you’ve returned your vehicle, we hope you’ll lease another Mercedes-Benz through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services UK Ltd, subject to new credit checks at the time of your application. Ask your local Dealer for more details, as you approach the end of your agreement.
