What happens at the end of my agreement?

We hope you have enjoyed your Mercedes-Benz experience. Now, as your agreement reaches its final stage, we want to give you a little advice in terms of returning your vehicle to us in the best possible condition if you choose to do so, or help you to purchase a brand new vehicle. See below to find your finance option type and find out what your options are.

Hire Purchase

Once you’ve completed your monthly payments, paid the 'Option to Purchase fee' (and final balloon payment if applicable), the vehicle is yours to keep.

Agility (Personal Contract Plan)

Customers with an Agility (Personal Contract Plan) agreement have one of the following three options at the end of their agreement:

(Please note your Direct Debit will be taken as normal until the end of your agreement).

Purchase your van

Purchase your Mercedes-Benz by paying the Optional Final Payment and Option to Purchase Fee. This will complete the purchase of your Mercedes-Benz, leaving you free to simply enjoy your vehicle.

Hand back your vehicle

If you decide to return your vehicle to us, it must be in line with our Vehicle Return Standards, as vehicle condition, excess mileage and other charges may be payable. Scroll down to What happens next? to see your next steps.

Part-Exchange for a new vehicle

Pay the Optional Final Payment and Option to Purchase Fee. This will complete the purchase of your vehicle, allowing you to part-exchange for a new Mercedes-Benz.

Operating Lease & Contract Hire

We’ll arrange the collection of your vehicle at the end of your agreement. You simply hand back your vehicle subject to it being in line with our Vehicles Return Standards as vehicle condition, excess mileage and other charges may be payable.

Finance Lease

If you have a Finance Lease agreement, you have three options to choose from:

Extend your agreement.

Continue to use your vehicle for a further agreed period in return for a 'peppercorn' payment, equal to one month's rental per annum. Conditions apply.

Sell your vehicle to an independent third party.

Establish a VAT-registered unconnected third party to purchase your vehicle at its current market value (we will appoint you as our agent to complete the sale), and then notify us of their details. An invoice will be raised and upon receipt of the sale price, you'll receive 95% of the sale proceeds.

Return the vehicle and we will sell it on your behalf.

Hand back the vehicle and we'll collect and sell the vehicle on your behalf, at auction. You'll receive 95% of the sale proceeds minus our administration costs.

What happens next?

If you are nearing the end of your agreement and will be returning your vehicle, here is what will happen.

  • Meeting the standards
    It is important that your vehicle is cleaned thoroughly inside and out before collection - our agents can refuse to take your van if it cannot be inspected accurately, and you may be charged for an aborted collection. Vehicle Return Standards.
  • We will call you to arrange collection
    Simply let us know when you would like us to collect your van. Once we have agreed a convenient date and time, we will arrange collection from your work or home address. Please refer to your agreement for further information on the responsibility to return your vehicle.
  • You hand over your van
    When our representative collects your Mercedes-Benz, they will perform a safety check to confirm it is safe to take on the public road. Before signing the collection agent’s handover form, please ensure all items have been recorded correctly. Please note, the driver who conducts the handover will not be a trained engineer.
  • Your Mercedes-Benz is returned
    Once we have collected the van, an engineer will then complete further, more detailed inspections to determine any unacceptable damage.

Please ensure you have your V5C. If you misplace your V5C document, simply contact the DVLA on 0300 790 6802 to request a duplicate (you should receive this within 5 days). Please note that if you do not send back the V5C document with your vehicle, a penalty charge will apply.
