Following the conclusion of production in 2020, the complete lineage of the compact roadster is now available exclusively through the Mercedes-Benz Approved Used programme. This ranges from the pioneering SLK generations to the final SLC models, which were renamed in 2016 to reflect their technical bond with the C-Class family.

The Birth of a Roadster Icon: Mercedes-Benz SLK.

Unveiled at the 1996 Turin Motor Show, the SLK (R 170) was a game-changer. It re-introduced the world to the Vario roof - a folding metal hardtop that combined the security of a coupé with the freedom of a convertible. This innovation set a new standard for year-round open-top driving. With over 311,000 units sold of the first-generation SLK alone, the model quickly became a favourite, especially among lifestyle-oriented drivers. Its compact size, sporty handling, and advanced safety features - including an ellipsoidal bulkhead for crash protection - made it a standout in its class.

In January 2004 Mercedes-Benz presented the SLK of the R 171 model series. As a compact roadster with Vario roof it embodied the same essential design concept as its predecessor, while featuring a surprise in the form of a front design establishing visual links with the SLR McLaren super sports car and the McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 racing cars.

Evolution into the SLC.

In 2016, 20 years after the birth of its segment, the compact roadster SLK was renamed the Mercedes-Benz SLC, aligning it with the C-Class family. The SLC Final Edition, launched in 2019, marked the end of an era with exclusive styling and premium features. Key highlights of the Final Edition include:
