There are many factors in operating a bus that cost money. Even though you cannot control all the costs, you can still do a fair bit to operate your Mercedes-Benz bus more economically: Over one-third of the costs can be actively influenced. We will show you the overall economic benefits of our buses and services in relation to investment, consumption, maintenance and residual value:
Thanks to the innovative vehicle technology deployed, the Tourismo helps to support healthy balance sheets and low fuel consumption. The BlueEfficiency Power engine generation with BlueTec® 6 impresses, not only for its high standards of environmental compatibility but also for its excellent economy. For, despite the more stringent requirements, it has still been possible to keep fuel consumption at the customary low level - i.e. no increased consumption despite Euro VI. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz transmissions ensure low fuel consumption: Power transmission is either via a six-speed manual transmission with convenient dashboard-mounted joystick gearshift, or via the Mercedes GO 250-8 PowerShift 8-speed automated transmission. Then there is the new RO 440 bus & coach drive axle: it is lighter and, thanks to its optimised gearing, quieter and more efficient, due to reduced oil splash losses in the axle which reduces consumption tangibly. Your coach saves energy in another way, too - with a new, integral water retarder: the secondary retarder uses water from the engine's cooling system as braking and cooling medium, so that the previously required oil/water heat exchanger is no longer needed. Also new is the virtually wear- and maintenance-free clutch. The result: thanks to long service intervals of up to 120,000 kilometres, the Tourismo stays on the road for a long time.
