Specifically developed for the European market, tested and proven in the toughest of conditions from the Arctic Circle to Southern Europe, the innovative BlueEfficiency Power drive system is deployed in Citaro regular-service buses. The powerful, efficient Euro VI engines guarantee incomparable economy. That's because, despite higher requirements, they have succeeded in further reducing fuel, engine oil and AdBlue consumption. In a Dekra test the Citaro Euro VI with a Mercedes-Benz OM 936 h engine and 220 kW (299 hp) went up against the Euro V predecessor model with the OM 906 hLA (210 kW/286 hp) and OM 457 hLA (220 kW/299 hp) engines. The result: the developers reduced consumption by 8.6 percent. The new Citaro saves 3.6 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres and consumes 38.7 litres/100 km. Based on a fuel price of around 1.25 euros per litre, the costs of diesel fuel for an annual mileage of 60,000 km are reduced by around 2700 euros. And this reduced consumption also saves the environment 5700 kg of CO₂ emissions.
